Many of you will know the standard bill from BT sent online states "This is not a VAT invoice". If you are eligible to recover VAT on your BT invoice, then this provides a problem as all VAT claimed must be supported by a VAT invoice....

 

In order to resolve this you should dial 0800 328 9642. You will be asked for the telephone number of the account to be amended, and once this has been entered, request Option 1. This enables you to request from a real person, that your account be given a VAT invoice indicator, which will mean that you will be able to download a VAT invoice thereafter.

 

Downloading your VAT invoice is not as straightforward as you might think. Do not follow the link to your BT bill from the notification received by email. Go to www.BT.com and login. Click the "Your Account" tab. On the left of the next screen select the "billing" button and then scroll down to view your VAT invoice!

 

It does amaze us that such a request took over 9 months to resolve.
